my point of view in the reading "From Self-Reliance" by R.W Emerson

The reading “From Self-Reliance” by Ralph Waldo Emerson explains that we have to believe in our own thought. It’s genius if we believe that what is true for us in our private heart.

If there’s a term saying “the grass is always greener” is true. We don’t have to envy with what people have, but we have to offer thanks in everything that we have. It doesn’t mean ours is worse than the others; just believe that ours is better. We have to accept what are the worst and the better for ourselves. Because we have decided our own way to undergo our life. So, all the fortune is from our hard work. The most important things are we have to accept ourselves for better, for worse, for our portion.

Further on the reading tells us about how that person can be accepted in his place which full of bad things. He has trouble with his society; his society is different with his life at his time. He has to accept and adjust his society rather than doesn’t do anything to make his life better. Here, it is described that the society can change a person easily. Good person can be influenced by bad things if that person can’t control himself to keep walk straight in his own life which is better. The reading also tells us about the young people who can have their freedom to do anything that they want. They are still young and they need to try anything without being forbidden by their society. He just thinks that why his society tends to judge people without knowing himself deeper first. A person is forced to be someone else who is not himself.

I learn something from the reading. It asks us to think about what we must to do is all that concerns us, not what the people think. This life is difficult between actual and an intellectual life. They might be served by greatness and meanness. It is harder because we will always find those who think they know better than we know. It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion, it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great person is a person who is in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. And the objection of conforming usage that is scatter our force is just wastes our time; blurs the impression of our character.
